    Yo visualists of the universe,
i have been thinking of making some VJ themed clothing for while and was going to put together a store using spreadshirt or similar. But i though why not open it up get some more ppl involved and make a potentially bigger and better thing out of it?

Basically we design some cool stuff, they handle all the payments, print it and distrabute it from US or UK depending on where you live. The designers get a cut after costs, the world gets Vj clothing :)

So what im looking for is a few ppl who would be up for doing some designs for t-shirts, hoodies, caps etc.

or if you happen to have a screen printing business and want to discuss taking care of that side of things instead of spreadshirt or whoever...

either way PM me and well see what happens.

    good call pixie,
i dropped them a mail although i still think normal tshirts would be cool for the more underground gigs and general street ware ;)

definately having a VJ clothing line would be cool(like Pornstar clothing)..
I could see it working, ***If**** you could get the right peeps wearing the clothing..
The thing about the lumalive stuff, is it's completely brand new.(not even sure you can buy any lumalive clothing yet) incorporating lumalive with VJ wear could be a great cross promotional tool...

its not really gonna work wonders on our already pigeonholed geek image though, is it? I mean, how many people do you see with those led equaliser tshirts and think "now there's a person that knows his music AND how to dress sharp" ??

    I haven't seen one of those tee's yet:cry:lol
I guess i'm seeing the lumalive clothing showing up in the PsyTrance and BM communities amongs the punters.. I still marvel at the el wire installs that have been made:)

Lol - I have seen a few shirts like that - but with stupid designs - One with a cat wagging it tail, etc I would take that led shirt and cut out the leds and use it as a VU meter - only if it synced up to the music - then use the rest of the shirt to clean my equipment. - No seriously i am for a t-shirt as long as it had a good design.

While we're on the subject of looking like a twat, I had a t-shirt with "VIDIOT" on the shoulders printed up a couple of years ago. Works wonders as you'll never get roped into stacking PA or flying multi etc when there's a shortage of bodies, and there's a wonderful sense of irony that you know the rest of the venue crew are already looking down on you.

There's already a load of DJ related clothing about - turntables, headphones etc so what's the VJ equivalent? A V4 faceplate? Timecode? Resolume logo?

It would be cool to take those elements and mix them into a design that on the surface looks cool and funky but fellow VJs would be able to recognise that extra level and references immediately. Maybe look at D-Fuse's VJ book for inspiration on the style.

yeah martin that was more what i was thinking of...

so is anyone feeling creative or is it going to be a solo project?

i suppose while we're on the subject im going to have to work out costings etc to see if its worth while, how much you pay for vj tshirt you liked?

i am currently thinking of a shirt with a vvvv patch on it. would look cool whilst being not obviously tied to video, thus preventing the "twat-effect".
then I have a shirt from vsct with an 8mm cam and a screen on it which could havae been designed better. but nonetheless, a major brand utilizing video equipement for its fashion design makes me think that we could get away with a vj-line, as long as it has a certain amount of irony\fun implied.

I wouldn't want a T-shirt that said VJ on it anywhere or was obviously related, maybe if it had a teeny weeny VJForum logo (i mean small) on the sleeve or side panel I might. I think it's good to avoid the hey I'm a VJ, look how cool i am. Having said that I've always liked 'vidiot' and that isn't VJ specific.

I'm not sure if I see myself wearing this t-shirt whilst performing, I like the idea and if the design is cool would probably buy one! I'm struggling to get a fresh clip bank together so can't commit to any help right now!

I know spark is wearing a "vj" shirt and I remember VJcentral having a shirt store... I usually wear either a shirt with my url on it or a shirt with my vjname without the "vj" or one with an image from one of my clips:

we shouldnt define ourselves in quoting what we are not. thats the one thing that I never liked about Legoman. that quote "i am not the DJ". or crusteas antivj. "wunderkind" by the way is the fashion label by wolfgang joop.
my names on all my equippement but I would never wear a shirt with "devon miles" on it. fashion is all about fun, its playful and delicate, komplex. lets create something thats open for associatons while not obviously related to visuals.

F*Ck off - Im Mixing - LOL - Not sure i would were this shirt - but it is funny.

I know, but firstly I've used it before, secondly: he can't have exclusive rights to that word cause it's common, and since I'm not using it as a label there should be no prob with it... (I can prove I uploaded that shirt design before the company winderkind was founded)
BTW: I do like the fuck off I'm mixing. I also think we shouldn't define ourselves by what we're not - on the other hand - it would keep people away asking to play a certain track...

you should have sued him then, hehe.
i would consider wearing a deepvisual store shirt occasionaly, but only if he is exclusively selling them in his store and not over the net. considerable are shirts by the vj software creators. buy the software, get a free shirt.
fashionable is something that is not easy to get. keeping it exclusive will make it more attractive to wear.

i reckon a bunch of rounded rectangle frames side by side, with actual frame grabs from various original vj mixes... with a logo above it... would look awesome :)
a few years ago, made a series of fullsize a4 prints onto shirts for a band called 'energy'

another time, greatly enjoyed the results of printing original drawings onto iron-on material, then cutting out the printed shapes using scissors, and ironing those custom shapes onto Bonds cafe-cut Tshirts.

I'm holding out until we can get screens incorporated.

I'd love a little mobile phone size screen (ok maybe not little but the same size screen as my Viewty or iPod Touch would be good) on my tee that I could play my own loops on, that would be cool.

Hmmm.... I have an old mobile phone lying around somewhere.....

acwojie......I'll give you a call when I need a t-shirt that says 'summer queen', probably about the same time as I need a 'submersible borehole pump' available on your website.
